

Art appreciation classes are scheduled to be held at GOTart Gallery, 18 SW Third Street, in downtown Lee's Summit. These classes are planned as an effort to develop community-wide interest in the arts. Two-hour sessions cover information about various styles or subject matter throughout the history of art. They are taught by JoAnn Gloor, former instructor of Art history at MCC Longview. The cost is $12.50 per session and includes cake and coffee/tea The following is the schedule for August and September:

August 2 - INTRODUCTION - The Language of Art, the Fundamentals of Art (the basics for understanding and experiencing art)
August 16 - SESSION I - Prehistoric through Greek
August 30 - SESSION II - Etruscan through Gothic
September 13 - SESSION III - Renaissance through Modern
September 27 - SESSION IV - Women Artists
These very interesting sessions are open to anyone, bring your friends and spread the word about them. The cake is homemade by JoAnn who used to own a bakery in downtown Lee's Summit so they are a special treat.
