Welcome to the Summit Art
Web Site!

Summit Art's mission is to encourage and promote visual, multi-cultural art education and humanities throughout the Lee's Summit and regional surrounding communities. Summit Art's further purpose is to provide art education and to promote artists, while increasing business participation and community resources through exhibits and public art.

We now have a membership of over sixty artists who have the opportunity to be included on the Summit Art website (see Member Links), display their work at the new St. Lukes East Hospital, at Legacy Park Community Center, and at participating business member locations. Check our Calendar for upcoming meetings, workshops and events!

Next meeting is Tuesday, November 11!

Our Guest Speaker:

shannon manningPAPER SCULPTURE ARTIST, Shannon L. Manning

Our workshop presentation speaker for the month of November will be paper sculpture artist Shannon L. Manning. After graduating from the prestigious Herron School of Art IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN, Shannon had a remarkable career in the corporate art world. Starting at an advertising agency while still in school, he went on to a large design studio in Chicago and from there to the Creative Division of Hallmark Cards where he was employed for thirty years. His primary areas of interest have always been graphic and structural design. He is a creative artist, who is dedicated to the concept that art should enrich the lives of its viewers.

Members: Our meeting dates will be changing for 2009. See the calendar for more details.
