Tom Mallot
B/W photograph

Creating images using film and darkroom processes allows me to produce traditional Black & White prints which I mount and frame. I also produce Fine Art Images using the Polaroid Emulsion & Image Transfer techniques. I show my work in several Art Fairs in greater the Kansas City area and in regional Art Shows. I also participate in the Summit Art Group which gives me opportunities to show my work in local business and public venues.

My love for photography got its start during high school in Lexington, MO. After graduating from William Jewell College in 1962, I began a 37 teaching career as a science and photography teacher at East High School in Kansas City. In 1962 I began a professional photography career doing weddings and portraits. Rasing a family, teaching, and professional photography have been the central themes in my life for the past 50 years. My interest in photography as a fine art has increased during the last 20 years. Teaching advanced photography to high school students has allowed me to develop their talents and skills as a fine art.

Working with students stimulated my own growth and desire to produce fine art photographs and new and alternative wayst to make and print images. Field trips, self-assignments, observartions, and love of the outdoors are some of the ways that I use to stimulate my creative images. My wish is that people who view my work will have a pleasant, positive, emotional experience.
