Venita Routh

A Kansas City, Missouri native, Venita left the area after getting married in 1983, and lived in Kansas, Florida, and Ohio, before returning home.

Although she took art in school and drew for pleasure, Venita is relatively new to the art world. She has, however, ventured into other creative areas - flower arranging, food art (fruit and vegetable arrangements), and chocolate shape molding to name a few, but it was only recently, after taking some lessons, that her renewed interest in fine art became a passion.

To her delight, Venita has three daughters who are also artistically inclined in various disciplines, and attributes her own love of art to her mother who trained as a fashion designer, but enjoyed sketching and other mediums till the end of her life.

Driven to excel as an artist, Venita entered her first show in the spring of 2008 in Blue Springs, Missouri, where she won Honorable Mention for her acrylic painting of Chickadees, and sold both of her paintings.

In 2008 she also won Honorable Mention at the Community Association for Arts Annual Art Show, won Honorable Mention for her acrylic painting of Poppies on Sandpaper and at the Independence Artist Association, she also won Honorable Mention for her acrylic painting of a Rose Breasted Grosbeak.

She has displays in several local businesses. She is also branching out and trying new things. She has finished several drawings that are displayed as well.

This year she is Exhibit Chair Person in the Raytown Artist Association and is an elected official in the Independence Artist Association as well.

She has also won Honorable Mention for her acrylic painting of Yellow Butterflies displayed at Primary Colors Gallery for the Independence Artist Association Show this year.
