Summit Art begins as a small, informal group of fine artists wanting to create exhibition and professional development opportunities for local artists. The earliest curating juried artists' exhibition began at Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit.
The small group of artists officially incorporated as a limited liability company called Summit Art and International Equine Art and Historical Association, Inc.
Summit Art began the Longview Art & World Music Festival held in the New Longview area of Lee’s Summit.
The organization restructures itself as a 501c3 nonprofit entity.
Name of the organization is changed to Summit Art Inc.
Summit Art acquires operations of Got Art Gallery in downtown Lee’s Summit. GOT Art becomes the home of Summit Art.
Summit Art launches the Summit Art Festival, a three-day fine art festival held the second weekend of October in the streets of downtown Lee’s Summit.
Got Art Gallery closes. Over the years, GOT Art Gallery hosted over 200 fine art exhibitions featuring art created by local, regional and national artists, as well as countless classes, workshops and community gatherings.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine, the Summit Art Festival is cancelled. Summit Art dedicates the next several years to emerging from the impact of the pandemic and re-envisions outdoor festival programming.
Summit Art hosts the inaugural Plein Air Festival, which becomes a new signature event that brings plein air artists from across the Midwest to Lee’s Summit each year.
