Joyce Barnhard

When Joyce creates a drawing, she hopes to pull the viewer in, transport them to a place in their own memory that brings them joy being with someone they love, a dream they have for themselves or someone else, even a place that brings them to be fed spiritually or a quiet moment to reflect. As the drawing pulls in the viewer, their story becomes the story that is important. It is the everyday experiences of life that Joyce wants to share with others and wants the viewer to feel the moment in their own soul.

Per Joyce, she tells a story in drawing. “Whether it be graphite, colored, or pastel pencils, it is in the pencil art that has helped define my style as an artist. It is in the details that I try to capture the narrative and emotion of the story, in the beauty of nature, in spirituality and relationships.”
