Kevin Monroe is best known for his midwestern landscapes, bearing witness to the local beauty of the region in all of its seasons. Kevin is motivated by exploring nature and capturing the landscape we take for granted.

“The transition to also painting outdoors from life (plein air) has been instrumental in adding a new perspective that broadens and compliments the way I create my paintings” Kevin explains.   

Working in oil on canvas, he has been influenced by the Impressionist movement. Primarily self–taught, Kevin has been practicing his art for over fifty years and is particularly gifted in color. His use of soft contours and subtle gradations create a sense of harmony. Moments of surprise and sublime offered by the natural environment are rendered in first person perspective, drawing the viewer into the lived experience of the artist.
